Andy,
Wouldn't you just (in the Sound tab) set the loop count to whatever you
want and then in the editing window add 2 handles? One would go right
at the start (and you'd dragged that down to near the bottom of the
soundwave), and the other would be a bit farther down the soundwave,
where you want it to have gotten to full volume.
