FLASH: animated button

I created a button and would like to make it animated when one clicks.

I created a movie clip (btw, which is the difference between movie clip

and graphic symbol?), and put in the 'down' tab of the button. Well, it

works only when the mouse button stays pressed. When I leave the movie

stops. Tips oh thank you.
