FLASH: Controling other timelines from inside a MC

Hey there, i have a scene called 'Main Map' with a movie clip in it called 

'City Buttons' and in that MC there are a bunch of buttons of type 'City 

Button'

When you click on a 'City Button' inside the MC 'City Buttons', i need the 

scene 'Main Map' to go to and play scene 40(or whatever based on the 

different city)

What i dont understand is that when scene 'Main Map' is the first scene in 

my movie, it works, but if i put it after another scene, it doesnt work.
