He well be - but I think he's entitled to be proud of his achievements.  He's a

professor at MIT, he's written several books, he's a brilliant photographer, loves

dogs (which is worth +5 points at least!!), he has an amusingly wry style of

writing which I think is very effective and he says Bill Gates is smelly!!!   I

don't think he promotes this book as a mainly technical book - its supposed to help

techies, web designers/developers and business manager-types to get a grip on the

best way of using the web.  He's extraordinarily generous with his knowledge- the

book is available online - for free!  He gives free seminars.  He gives code away

for free.  He'll even give you online tech support via his personal email address

(not unlike the lovely souls on this list!!).  The referral fees from amazon go

straight to charity.


But that is just my opinion, and judging by the reviews on amazon - its a love it

or hate it kind of book.  Certainly he has strong opinions and isn't scared of

venting.  Personally, anything that makes me laugh out loud is fine by me.  If it

weren't so heavy I'd bring it on holiday with me to read by the pool!
