I am now hardware guru but have recently been looking at a similar thing:

I was going for a BX motherboard (socket 7 I think) which will fit all the
pentium 3 chips.
Video crad I was looking at was a matrox g400 maxi. I think there might be
adaughter card for analogue video capture.

And i never really looked at sound cards.

Look for a trinitron monitor as well.

HI list,

Well I finally got paid for a flash site I made......the check actually
cleared, and now I need to buy a design computer. The problem is, I need
some advice on what I can get for under $3500.00----what do i need lots of,
what do i need less of? Confused about the graphics card--only certain
cards offer multiple monitor capabilities? Is there a "best" card for
Flash/Director work? I DO want to eventually be able to edit video as well.
Should I worry about buying the final system from a small e-tailer? (have
heard horror stories about chips being knock-offs--i.e., be wary of a
computer that seems to cheap to be true)?????

Any help would help......
