Subject: FLASH: On-Topic: Regarding OT posts, and the appropriateness thereof[was: Alan's Yada Yada Post]

Alan,

I hate to see you leave the Flash list. At least, not for the
reason(s) you stated.

A much better remedy regarding the way you feel would be to set up
email filters so that you only see the posts you want to see, or so
that you don't see the posts that you don't want to see. Good email
programs can be set up -- pretty easily, I could probably tell you
how -- so that YOU CAN CREATE FOR YOURSELF an Inbox that only has in
it the Flasher emails that you want to see.

Also, you should know that, as the Flasher list gets slower (on
weekends, wee-small-hours, holidays), it temporarily gets "chattier",
too. This chattiness seems abruptly to end as "back-to-work" ensues
once again.

Really Alan. At least create a filter that sends all Flasher emails
directly to a separate Flasher folder. Then, you can sort by subject,
and ONLY READ THE ONES THAT INTEREST YOU.

To get onto a list, an then to complain about "irrelevant" (In Your
Humble Opinion) posts, only serves to make *you* look foolish.

[BTW, in case you haven't noticed yet, I'm the guy whose post you
quoted as an example of stuff that you don't like. :-) ]

SO, all I mean to say is, don't throw the baby out with the bath
water! Flasher is a Way Cool List.

HTH,

Ken Sherwood, who likes to post more than many people, and who
assumes that adults have the maturity to make choices, about which
posts to read, that are in alignment with their personal tastes.

"In particular, I was musing about where Flash would be in a couple
of years. Right now, it's been delivered to a vast number of
clients, either by being packaged with a browser, or via a download.
Developers are now developing Flash content that is small yet
effective visually. It seems to offer lots of design possibilities.
Will it still be here in 3 years? Adobe, who has deeper pockets than
Macromedia, has announced a Flash competitor. Will Macromedia
survive? Will their vision and focus, so far unsullied [*sic*],
survive?"
