I'm assuming you are talking about level1 and not level0. Reloading level0 

is a documented method of unloading all higher levels. I'm not sure why the 

MC would be reset by a LoadMovie command to level1. Shouldn't be the case. 

Is there something in the level 1 MC that is TellTargeting level9? 

Alternately, why not put all the backgrounds into a series of stopped 

frames in a single MC in level1, then use TellTarget to move among those 

frames?
