RE: FLASH: Flash vs Director

I have recently started learning Director having had a bash at Flash as

well. The immediate difference is that there is an awful lot more

programming..! Director has its own object oriented scripting language -

Lingo - which is very powerful. This power translates into more versatility

and greater control over the timeline and the objects within.

Most CD Roms would be created with Director as it provides one with

considerable versatility and power for creating presentations. However you

can almost anything with it - web sites, applications, games etc. I heard

someone say once that you could recreate Excel with Director if you were so

inclined.

I would say that unless you plan on using it on a very regular basis I would

stick with Flash as the learning curve is relatively steep and can be off

putting. Also the price tag is not small either - so you would need to be

able to justify that to yourself/your boss as well!
