Hei Steve,

don´t import JPEGs into Flash. JPEG is a lossy method of compress pictures. 

If you export your movie, flash compresses your already compressed picture 

again. That´s, why it looks so bad. Use an umcompressed format like pict (on 

a MAC) and BMP (Windows). If you need transparence use PNG with alpha Channel 

or transparent GIF, whre the transparence colour must be set to black.
