Subject: RE: FLASH: Touch Screen Kiosk Question

Daniel

I used flash to design and build a touch screen that is used in our public
libraries over here in Brisbane. I used a monitor (NEC 17") that has a
touch screen bonded to the glass surface - MicroTouch are the company that I
used. Flash was the perfect medium for me to do this - using cartoon like
animations with a voice over and sound track as well. But yes, they are
essentially a PC in a kiosk in the public arena. I used IE4 as the browser
set to open up in kiosk mode so there are no controls for people to fiddle
with.

You just have to be careful about roll-overs etc as the touch = (mouseover +
left click) in one action.

Does anyone know if the panels that go over touch screens work good
using flash or is an actual touch screen monitor the only dependable
working way? anyone have experiance with these babys? brands? where
do you get custom kiosk machines built? are they essentially pc's in a
public display? thanx =)
