FLASH: text ticker from external source

I'm reposting this because when it showed up in my mailbox it was at the bottom

of the list, with a date of 1944. I think my mail application has a Y2K problem.

I was wondering if anyone has had any success modifying Colin Moock's 

text ticker so that it would use text from an external text file.
