Yes, there are limits. We're really designed around websized loads.
Searching the Macromedia Flash Technotes with "limit" pulls up info on
various numeric limits. These are not usually seen, however... the
pragmatic limits usually kick in long before this.

A single FLA with big audio will require much time to compress. Even if you
import compressed audio, this will need to decompress into RAM during
authoring and playback.

If you delete large media assets, do a "Save As" to actually rewrite the
file without this deleted media. (A simple "Save" appends changes, and will
not remove chunks no longer used.)

Director generally works with large media management in very different ways
than Flash's all-in-memory approach.
