It does have some valid points:

The tools we use are seductive. The ability to add one more layer,
one more
blur, one more shadow, one more effect, has led many
an art director astray.
Seduced by our tools, we plunge deeper and deeper into
realms of pure visual
stimulation, forgetting that the image we labor over
was once intended to
communicate an idea.
