Subject: FLASH: anyone written an arctangent function for flash?

Hi Flashers,

I recently had a look at Branden's and Colin Moock's trig library, and am
very impressed that both these guys took the time to create them, but I
think I need arctangent and I don't believe either of these libraries
includes it. ?

Is this function possible in flash?

Is there a way to determine degrees without it?

In case it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, I don't, so let me
tell you why I think I need it...

I've made an MC of a "star" that is initially stopped but when told to
play, it moves left (270 degrees?) approximately 100 pixels.

I'm duplicating the "star" MC 500 times and placing these 500 MCs randomly
all over a field that is 400 pixels high and 800 pixels wide.

I want to be able to rotate each of these MCs so that it is pointing
directly away from the center of the screen (400,200) and then of course
tell them to play.

I'm just barely beginning to understand the math necessary make this happen
and it seems that ultimately I need arctangent to make this possible.

Am I making any sense?

Any ideas out there for accomplishing this?

Thanks very much for considering this!

Kurt
