FLASH: Re: Pasting actionscript on the mac

You can indeed cut and paste actions on the Mac, but it behaves a bit different than a) Windows, and b) editing text in a text document.


Firstly, you have to use keyboard shortcuts for cut, copy and paste. You can go to the Edit menu and see options for Paste (at least), but they do not work. I think we could agree that it should be greyed out if not useable. However, the editing must be done via keystrokes if you want that functionality. I use this a lot. 


You can also use the Delete key to delete actions from the list, although when I use this, it gives a system beep. Works, though.


Also, if you have a Mac with a two-button mouse (yeah!), you can't right-click and use the context menu. Or at least I can't with my Macally mouse. This will work, however, on a PC and is very handy.


Additionally, you can cut or copy actions from the window, and click out of Flash into the Finder. The actions are stored as text in the clipboard, and then can be pasted into things like this email:



Loop While (day ne "Saturday")

      Set Variable: "work" = "true"

      If (time eq "5pm" and day eq "Friday")

            Set Variable: "work" = "false"

            Set Variable: "day" = "Saturday"

      End If

End Loop

Set Variable: "day" = "Weekend"

If (day eq "Weekend")

      Comment: Relax!

      Comment: Relax!

      Comment: Relax!

End If



But, you can't copy actions from an external source back into the actions window.
