FLASH: UGENT: It's a horrid List/Scroller Extremly confusing

and scroll up a bit then down as far as possible. why does it show the gray at the top? how can it be fixed? At the bottom? can it be fixed to stop at the bottom of the scroll bar and not the middle? can it be fixed so it doesnt show the gray? its based off the list box widget in the flash 4 samples section. i cant get any farther than whats there!
