Markus,
i to have been having problems with differences in code base.
codebase= http://active.macromedia.com/flash2/cabs/swflash.cab#version=4,0,0,0
the above code base seems to work on ie, and netscape on both platforms.

codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swfl
ash.cab#version=4,0,2,0"
not to add more confusion but here is yet another code base that is
authored out of flash 4.0a
this codebase seems to cause flash content to timeout on ie 5.0.
simply changing the codebase in the object tag doesn't seem to
rectify the problem. my advice after much toil to use this codebase
codebase= http://active.macromedia.com/flash2/cabs/swflash.cab#version=4,0,0,0
as it seems that this works??
