Sorry for the quick response, Karin. Sounded to me like you knew the answers
and were just seeking confirmation rather than seeking a 'how-to'. PCs lose
the resource fork Mac applications require to run, so you have to pack the
file in a compressor that preserves it intact. .hqx is a standard mac
compressor, equivalent to .zip on the PC. You simply take the file to the
Mac and double click it, launching stuffit expander (installs with NS/MSIE
and comes with 7.6+ Mac systems). Then create a cross platform CD master
using Toast on a Mac (if you are sending a CD out to a production house, it
is best send them a golden master to duplicate).

You may be able to convert it on a website, but if you save the converted
files on a PC it will not run properly on a Mac.
