That is a very arrogant statement. The pure fact is that the users
range from total novices to power-users. And I find it hard to
believe that you can expect your user to know what kind of file is
behind your site. (useless your site resembles the flash tutorials).

What useit.com and asktog.com try to do (IMHO) is make the designer
aware of these usability issues. Many of articles point out very real
issues.

Flash does not allow for use of the standard browser navigation.
(Although it would be very cool for MM to write in some type of hook
that we could tie into. ). This is usability issue that should apply
to everyone here. I dont want my user to be fully adsorbed into my
site, jumping from area to area...hit the back button and they are
back into their previous site.

Flash is powerful tool..but like all powerful tools..it can be used
for evil. Gratuitous animation is one evil. There are many sites that
go way overboard..BTW - These were the same people using 300k
animated gifs years ago- ;-)

True, not all of the points useit.com brings up apply to your users.
The typical user I design for is very different that the typical
users that others on this list design for. Read it.. take the parts
that apply to your particular situation.
