Thanks for the followup... appreciated. Here are some some followups from
other folks that have closed out similar threads:

-- one person found that updating their trackball driver removed the failures

-- more than a few had the MacOS problem with excess temp files, and using
Eradicator or manually cleaning temp files gave normal performance

-- one thread was apparently caused by using an older OS version

-- I've seen one thread report that turning off Aqua UI elements fixed it,
but I suspect there must be an additional cofactor

-- many threads have been due to memory issues, particularly decompressing
many JPGs or MP3s into RAM while editing (filesize on disc must explode
into RAM to display)

There could be other causes too, for sure, from specific fonts of font
managers to extension conflicts to drivers to other system problems and
more, but the above are the results from similar threads. Your report helps
to weight memory issues in future reports, so thanks!
