also, I went and looked at one of my sites that uses a java applet, well, it

no longer works in NN 6, works fine in IE 5.5 and NN 4.76 I just get a gray

box that says:


loading java applet...

sending events to applet. LOAD

sending events to applet. INIT

sending events to applet. START


and that is it. Just hangs the applet. Just what everyone needs, another

browser to watch out for.   ;-(

Few things I've noticed with NS6 so far:


1. It *seems* to play Flash 4 and Flash 5 movies o.k.

2. It is *supposed* to support <IFRAME> tag but it doesn't seem to like

VBSCRIPT at all.

3. It royally screws up DHTML that works in 4.76.

4. Shockwave.com - I went, it told me I needed latest version of the plugin,

I said sure, it opened 4.76 and installed it in that version, it now works

in NS4.76 but not in NS6 - still says I need the plugin.

don't crack open the champagne yet. go to www.k10k.net for a short list of

known issues people have already discovered. also, the people at

webstandards aren't too happy about Netscape 6 - seems there are a whole

slew of bugs which have actually been fixed in the Mozilla development tree,

but weren't incorporated into Netscape 6 because it would possibly delay the

release date. They've been spitting and scratching with the kids over at

Mozillazine about it - check out
