Subject: FLASH: browser/plug-in detection to play either Flash or gif
From: Keenwitted

Hi everyone!

A few executives at my work are afraid to put a Flash banner on the site for
fear that some users may not see it. I made an animated gif (different from
the Flash one) as a back up and was wondering if there is a way to detect the
browser and/or plug-in of the user so that if they they have an old browser
or don't have Flash installed, they would see the animated gif.

this is a key question that will determine the next version of our site and
help me convince them to use Flash for the next incarnation of the site.

thanks so much,

cloe
