FLASH: CROSSPOST: Netscape 6.0 and Shockwave Player

Thought I'd let everyone know about this.  The Shockwave Player referenced

below is the one that plays Director movies, not Flash movies.  The Flash

Player provided with Netscape 6 should work fine.

Today, Tuesday November 14th, Netscape has made version 6.0 of their browser

available (http://home.netscape.com/download/). Unfortunately, Shockwave

Player does not function satisfactorily with that version. We are currently

working diligently with Netscape to remedy this problem, and expect to have

a fix as soon as possible. It is obviously a very high priority for us to

support Netscape 6.0.


In the meantime, we are setting up detection scripts in the Shockwave

Download Center (http://sdc.shockwave.com/shockwave/download/) that will

detect version 6.0 and put up the following message:  "ATTENTION NETSCAPE 6

USERS: Shockwave Player does not currently function satisfactorily in

Netscape 6. Macromedia and Netscape are actively working to resolve the

outstanding issues. As an alternative, Macromedia recommends use of an

earlier version of the Netscape browser."
