I've been working with JS and Director and Flash lately. JS works on the Mac
with IE 5 and higher and Netscape 4.6 and higher.

Niels,

I've been diving into javascript and flash lately myself so I'm psyched to
share
what I've gathered and been handed by everyone else on the list.

Yeah you can do it. But you lose Mac IE users.

A few pages for you (sorry to not give the short answer, but I think you'll
find
value in reading the following and I don't have the code you need on the tip
of
my tongue):

tutorials and overviews:
http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/fscommand/index.html
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/publishexport/scriptingwithflash4/

the Mac IE bug page (this is a great resource on the issue)
http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/macie/index.html

Page containing (probably) the exact code you need:
http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/fscommand/javascript-to-flash.html
