Subject: FLASH: Scrollbars with Flash
From: Willie G

Hi,

I joined this list a few days ago and am very happy I did! :o)

I have a request for help, but I hope it isn't too amatuerish for this
group.
Anyway, I made a scroll bar using hidden buttons and tell-target, very
rudimentary stuff, here's a link to the .fla file (ca. 315kb), if
anybody wants
see it:

http://www.egroups.com/files/Flash-it/Scrolling.fla

There are thirty hidden buttons in a row and each sends a film sequence
to the next frame, via tell-target. It's a "simulated" scroll-bar, I
guess.

The problem is, it only seems to work with mouseOver and this is kind of
weird/uncomfortable for the visitor who is probably used to clicking to
drag a scroll bar. But as soon as it's clicked, the thing doesn't
respond anymore.
Of course, I've tried all the possible mouse events, but... alas.

Is there maybe another approach I could try? Any example
files/tutorials?

Oh, if anyone downloads the film, I should mention that the sound file
triggered when
you click is just for fun at the moment, it's not really part of the
finished film...

Thanks in advance for any feedback,

:?)Willie G.
