well it has in Japan... I think the general opinion it will at some point
but when is why people pay mobile consultants so much cash...

maybe maybe not... the advantage of WAP is it is a standard that a number of
vendors agreed on.

Because the difference in my opinion between i-Mode and Wap is that i-Mode
is always connected. You can instantly press a link and it will provide the
data... unlike with WAP services offered at present which you have to wait
to connect to (at least 20 seconds)...GPRS will add this ability to WAP
services so at that point it will be a level playing field.

i-Mode is the best service at the moment but the technology is available to
all the operators.. Then the 3rd generation mobile networks will be in place
to offer much better bandwidth.. and the competition will then be on
services offered....

but yes there is room for WAP....

ahhhahhh the batteries are not getting that much more powerful that
quickly!! so you won't be seeing that until blue tooth remote batteries are
available every where....

and Palm has proved that you do need to design for the device and don't seem
to have done badly in black and white while every other manufacturer was
offering colour cut down PC operating systems... so you are also a long way
off...

Cheers
