Packet-switched networks like GPRS and CDMA tend to be the always-on
variety...

Usability is kind of relevant - a service that people find useful includes
the idea that it's usable IMHO.

The official line I've heard from people like Symbian is that there will be
no one "killer wireless app" - instead users will built up individual
portfolios consisting of multiple apps they find handy.

*very* often. I can't speak for anyone else, but a one-click (or two-click,
or three-click) balance check would be incredibly useful for me.
