Subject: UKNM: So... you want to set up an Internet business
From: Jo Chipchase

I'm writing a feature aimed at people who might be considering setting up
an Internet/web business. The feature will provide useful advice and
describe opportunities and pitfalls.

I'll be looking mainly at the business of web design, and to a lesser
extent at ISP services (including becoming a free ISP).

Would anyone like to comment on the following issues:

* is this a good time to set up a web design company?
* the availability of grants for start-up businesses in the Internet sector
* can good counsel be received from organisations set up to help small
businesses?
* employing other people - points for concern
* client handling and credit control (anecdotes would be good here)
* true "horror stories" where something has gone wrong with a start-up
because of an an oversight and/or lack of experience

Any feedback appreciated.

Jo.
