Subject: UKNM: Homedepot and BV...
From: Bill King

from another posting board...

1.1 Even BV's best developer's from their R&D
department were unable to come up with a workable
solution to allow book marking on homedepot.com.
Their suggestion, do the site in frames!?!

2.1 Bloated HTML was not really a factor on
homedepot.com simply because BV is not providing any
of the functionality one would expect on a
content-based site. Expected functionality would be
dynamic navigation, related links, etc. All of this
functionality was created using a production
called Frontier. Once again BV Professional Services
was unable to create similar functionality on the
server side.

2.4 BroadVision loves frames... it's the only way they
can manage session ID's. In fact, they'd tried to
convince us to move homedepot.com into frames
saying that was the only way BV could work
successfully.

2.6 We both know why homedepot.com *STILL* does not
have ecommerce functionality. Ad far as launching in 8
weeks goes, that was only because I and the rest of
the team was working 120 hour weeks.

2.8 BroadVision training is a joke!

2.11 BroadVision's interface *IS* 100% proprietary. In
fact, they don't even own the libraries needed to
developed new server-side components. They need
to be purchased from a third party vender.

2.14 BV doesn't support link's to external relational
databases, only single tables... You're stuck using
their database schema if you want to do any sort of
ecommerce.
