Just looking at the number of sites that *still* haven't seen past the 'pay

for searching our site' nonsense shows that they at least 1 year behind the

UK - if not 2.


A lot of the developments you mention were held up in the UK pre-97 because

of the combination of 'paid for' connection and timed local phone calls.

Once the word 'free' was used, of course, all that changed. The UK is *the*

place to be for e-commerce at the moment, because of the high population (in

a very small area), confident spending and a lot more *trust* than the jaded

US market that rode out the developing years of the Internet.
