Subject: UKNM: cheque .v. credit card.

Hi all,
things seem to be a bit quiet and it`s a while since I had a rant, so
here goes.
Yesterdays Sunday Times , Business section, ads for Internet services.
Names123 are offering .com domains for a" limited time only " for £9.00.
Hmmm, seems like a good deal. So off to www.names123.com type in some
crap, fgfgfh.com, and "go" and yes it`s available.I choose the pay by cheque
option. What`s this ? £69.00, maybe it`s a missprint. I fire off a letter to
names123 and recieve a quick reply. It seems that the offer only applies to
credit card orders, although this is not pointed out anywhere. So I go back
to try the cc method. Basically I have to pay first then register.Nowhere
but nowhere can I find out if there will be additional hosting ,parking, dns,
or transfer charges. I know there will be but by then it will be too late.
I have my own domain service ( sorry about the blatant plug but it is to
make a point )www.atomictuna.co.uk. I am not saying we are the best/cheapest
etc, but we do tell you how much and for what, on the homepage, maybe I am
just being niave. I keep hearing about Trading and Advertising standards,
when is somebody going to stop this blantant misrepresentation and
exploitation of net users.

Regards Keith Whittaker.
