I think you'll find that it's not free from EU regulation if you are a UK
business, I believe that the new data protection rules 'discourage' European
businesses from exporting data. Check out e-tradlaw.co.uk Graham Ross who
runs that site put up a summary at one time.
Whatever, the lega;lities, one has to ask, as a possible prospective
customer, why any legitimate UK business want to put my data on a server
outside what they felt is UK legislation. There is enough lack of confidence
around among prospective UK internet users without adding 'your data will be
held in a part of the world which gives you no rights over how it is to be
used'
