Subject: UKNM: Fulfilment hell

Hi all,
as a competitor (of sorts) I do not want to get involved in Keiths comments
on UKA.

However as a strategic partner of CJ (the first non-US) we
(www.dvisions.co.uk ) have helped clients develop affiliate solutions.
I'd like to offer my tuppence on what matters when developing one:

Define strategy including reward policy & selection criteria
Set up team (internal/external)
Evaluate and decide technology (proprietary v network)
Test
Create affiliate acquisition strategy with a compelling solution
Maximise potential through offering: support, account management and
community creation.
Be generous. Build trust.

Affiliate programs are glorified ad serving and tracking mechanisms. In
themselves they are not a solution, merely a component of a greater
marketing strategy.

How to use them best (to mobilise a pay per performance marketing army) is
the 'trick'. The only way to do this is to recruit (internally or
externally) experts in affiliate marketing.

There are in fact at least 10 options out there- not just CJ or UKA. All
have their strengths and weaknesses. A thorough competitor analysis once you
have identified what matters most (to you) should bring the numbers down to
only one or two.
Costs range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of pounds BTW.

Also try www.affiliatetips.com for more independent advice.

All the best and come on England.
