I got the same offer from LastMinute. In my case, the domain was already

taken, and used for:


1) a site about travelling fun fairs (co.uk)

2) a site about multi-media servers (com)

3) a community site for Alexandria, VA (org)



So it is emphatically not available for £99 + VAT. Admittedly, some of the

less well known domain suffix versions (.net, .ts, .mv, .ws, .etc) might be

available. Regardless you can buy domains and park them for a mere UK

equivalent of $20, so £99 + VAT seems 'steep'.


I suspect this is a case of a company leveraging their opt-in marketing list

to push shed-loads of off-category stuff at their customers. Like if an HMV

newsletter starting pushing discounts on butter at Tescos. A fast route to

brand-erosion-ville for certain.
