The spokeswoman said: ``We believe our target audience will appreciate 

innovative visuals and cutting edge functionality ... no-one else has 

our ambitious global reach and outrageously stylish shopping 

environment.


``We are not just a catalogue on the net, so we really have no direct 

competitors.''


She said the delays in launching the site were due to it being ``one of 

the most complex and ambitious e-tailing platforms ever built''.


She added: ``Before launching, we brought in world class external 

experts to audit key parts ... including the user interface and the 

customer service experience.''

It was very frustrating that despite my persistent questions, I was denied

an interview with anyone from boo itself - I had to get all the above quotes

from their PR agency - and when I pushed the point about "You wouldn't make

these sorts of demands of someone walking into a real shop," I was simply

presented with the same stock answer. 


I must say my favourite bit in the press release is where they say they

brought in "world-class external experts" to test things like the user

interface...
