I tried to respond direct but it didn't work so sorry to bore all you

experienced Internet/ domain list UKNM readers.


Many ISP's and Internet companies have the techncial capacity to register

domain names. The price differences really depend on what a company fee

ls is a relevant charge for taking the order from you, doing the work and

holding the domain name on their names servers for you.


It really doesn't matter too much who you use if you just want to register

the domain name for a later date. It only matters if you wish to run other

services, such as email or a web site under the domain. If thats the case

then it will save you time later if you register the name with a company

that can give you the services you may ultimately want.


Corpex charges £60 for registering a domain, other companies charge more

or less depending on their veiw of a marketable fee.


In addition to the fee that the ISP will charge you, there will almost

always be an additional fee that is levied by the body that ultimately

controls the domain name type, i'e ..Internic in the USA control .com

domains and Nominet in the UK control .co.uk domains.


Internic charge $70 for the first 2 years and then $35 per annum therafter.

Your ISP will normally bill you these fees in addition to their own.


With Nominet they charge £20 for the first 2 years and then£20 per 

annum thereafter.


For .co.uk and other UK related domains you can go direct to Nominet but

you will pay £80 per domain (as you are not a nominet Member)  and you will


need your own name servers (DNS) to tag them to. Thats why most people

don't go direct because if you buy through an ISP then the ISP holds them on their name servers (DNS) for you.


Try to choose an ISP that you feel is competent and is helpful to you on

the phone the same as you would choose any other supplier.
