FLASH: Wish list sent to flash

Subject: flash improvements


1. better hand-kerning of text, that is flash 4's is on a par with a lot of

computer typesetters of 5 years ago: put in or take out a space b/w two

letters & spaces open or close between other letters in the word


photoshop & illustrator are much better---just use one key the option too,

not two---know that mm has the ability since freehand does


this is all mac related by the way


2. allow import of photoshop bitmap layers, so that one can drag off a

transparent item, then optimize it in flash as gif. Must now import

pre-optimized gif (in IR2) mounted on background color of movie, since edges

go jaggedy screwy if optimized with background transparent--- this is maybe

wishing for too much


3. definitely improve optimization in flash, as new fireworks has, i think.


i work with large photo images, prefer flash to html---wonderful to control

typography over anything else for web---& probably tax your product with

larger bitmaps than anyone i know or anything i've seen--- ability to let

viewer click to next image even on dial-up without waiting for download....


i generally import images as picts about 15% larger than needed then scale

down & optimize at 30, which gives sharper pics & smaller file sizes than

pre-opting in ps sav4web or IR2.... however, at times clear areas band badly

like skies, which doesn't disappear until setting of maybe 50. These i

preopt in IR2 at 50, with progressive box unchecked, which prevents flash

from opting them again, that it it preserves the image as imported file size

& all... which is usually bigger


my speciality is dealing with large images in flash & applying typography,

from photo & print design background, if i can be of any help to you in

building a better product for your benefit as well as everyone's.


4. re sound. allow easy import & use of streaming midi files. now i have to

attach in dreamweaver & it's not totally reliable in both major

browswers---my fault


i apologize if my thoughts are beyond the tech & trade offs now possible in

development, & if i was unclear, to paraphrase mark twain, 'sorry i didn't

have time to write a clearer note'
