I agree that they should of had a 1 week developer test from this list and
others.

They do need do a public beta though. 262 million users is a little more
testing power than a couple of hundred developers (if that). But still, 1
week of developer testing would of stopped a lot of bugs in there tracks.

It's friday night, the only bugs I want to see are in a bottle.

How many of those downloaders are actually going to provide
ANY feedback at all? How many are actually going to provide
meaningful feedback?

Beta testing needs to be left to beta testers. That's what MM
do with their other products. Now they've let out a bunch of bad
plug-ins that would have been easily detected by just providing
a download link to the people on this list alone. After an initial
test, they could expand the install base by advertising the beta
plug-in elsewhere. The developer community has a vested
interest in beta-testing, and they are clearly willing (and qualified)
to do it.

The end-user should get the plug-in when it is ready for end-use.
That seems kind of obvious to me, but maybe I'm not
understanding the argument. Why is it better to give buggy
software to end-users?
