do you want to do something like this?:

I've put the fla at the same place

in the fla the ripple animation is just put on the main timeline to make
things clear; i'd recommend to convert one of the layers to a symbol and use
it several times to keep down the filesize. there might also be
actionscript-ways to use just one ripple-symbol for the all of the
characters of the crew name.... hope this one helps.....
