SWfX does make the letters into symbols, so you get a good chunk of filesize

reduction on that.


But, there is another aspect to this. SWfX can export both Flash 3 and Flash

4 SWFs, depending on the version of the effect. For SWfX-generated Flash 3

SWFs, those symbols still occur on each keyframe. However, SWfX-generated

Flash 4 SWFs take full advantage of actionscript, so you can get much

smaller file sizes for more complex effects. A great example of that is the

Flash 4 banner ad we've recently constructed for SWfX at

http://www.wildswfx.com/pr/swfx_banner/ It has 12 effects built in and

weighs in at only 15K!


The down side of creating Flash 4 effects is that Macromedia Flash can not

import Flash 4 SWFs properly, so they must be used with larger movies using

the LoadMovie command. So, in those instances, you'd want Flash 3 effets.
