I went out and got this book last week.
(O'Reilly all the way folks) And the only
problem is that this book (like every other
book out there) fails to tell you how to
parse xml from any source other than a URI
(ie: file) But what about streams?

I can't get java to parse a stream that ends
in "0" (which is how flash 5 sends the stuff)
and I can't figure out what series of characters
(ie: bytes) to use

Here is some info I posted to another list the other day:


For learning XML for FLash 5 I strongly recommend "Java and XML" put out by
O'Reilly. In
particular, chapters 1, 2, 4, and 7 are useful when learning XML for use in
Flash. These chapters cover creating valid XML documents, DTD, and parsing.

Most of the code is in Java but since JavaScript's syntax is very close to
Java you will be able to use some of the parsing code within Flash 5 with
few modifications.
