Use a movie clip with actions (but no graphics) to keep track of the number
of loops. The clip must be present on the main timeline the duration of
the loop. Each time the loop reaches the end, it must tell the movie clip
(usint telltarget) to advance to the next frame (use a stop action in each
frame of the movie clip so it stops on every frame). Have one frame in the
movie clip for each loop, and a final frame that uses TellTarget to move
the main timeline past the loop. To do this you need to know how to use
TellTarget back and forth between the main timeline and a movie clip.
