Subject: RE: FLASH: Adobe's flash killer and Italian Popes

I'd say the pope is Italian to a point. InDesign 1.0
(debuting in 1999) IS a better application than XPress
4.1 (rooted in 1980s technology) if you compare the
features of the two (e.g., typograpical, graphic
handling, etc.). And it's definitely resulted in Quark
scrambling to revamp XPress...Not necessarily a bad
thing.

I really like Macromedia and Flash. And it's safe to
say they aren't nearly as complacent as the Quark
corporation. But if a streamlined Adobe product (i.e.,
a version 1.0 created with year 2000 technology)
debuts at the level of Flash 4.0, who knows...?
Competition is a good thing, despite what Redmond
tells you.

>Flash Killer? Gee I remember similar sort of chatter
>when InDesign was released.
>Had something to do with Quark. Flash killer? Right,
>and the pope is Italian.
