FLASH: Help with scroll bar

I have a text field that the data is loaded from text files depending on

where you are at in the movie. the text.maxscroll var is 1 at the start of

the movie. Im guessing this is do to no data in the text field. when data

is loaded into the field the maxscroll var is not changing. can any one

tell me why? or an easier way to find out if the text is not large enough

to scroll so i can hide the scroll bar when not needed?
