Yes, that is possible, but unfortunately Netcape can't handle this.

What you do is that you make your own transparent color on the
paintbucket. Then you go to modify/movie/background color and choose
the color you just have made.

Netscape, however, will exchange that color to something else, that is
NOT transparent. At least this was true for the earlier versions
(4.x), I haven't tried this lately with the newest ones...
