Well you're the first one I've seen to comment upon my global experiment.
It's about *emphasis*/EMPHASIS/_emphasis_ (remember that last one?).
While I'm willing to consider going back to "respecting" ... if
that's what it really would be ... the current "connotation
standards" (regarding the "real meaning" of various usages of
asterisks, all-caps, underlines, etc.), it seems to me (I can hear my
co-worker Marsha yelling in my ear "you're too analytical Ken") that
the standards oughta be about "conserving bandwidth" and "what's
easiest?".
"What's easiest" is for me to bang on my "caps lock" key to start
emphasizing and bang on it again to stop. Typing an asterisk,
instead, is a two-move process: Shift-8. It's just an efficiency
*thang*.
