Subject: FLASH: Slightly OT: formula for calculating distance?
From: Flannagan, Craig

Slightly OT, but it will help me make semi-3D stuff in Flash:

Hypothetical situation for you math buffs -

Let's say I have a square, 10m each side, in 3D space.

I push the square away from me 1m.

So the illusion in Flash I should create is, naturally, a smaller square.

BUT, how do I calculate how much smaller it get, in 2D space? (for example,
I tell the scale function to reduce size by .75 <--- this is the number I
want)

Is there a mathematical formula for this?

Thanks,
Craig
