There are several third-party spell-checkers you can add for 

System/application-wide access, including OE, such as SpellCatcher8 by 

Cassady & Greene (makers of ConflictCatcher)

Search the word 'spell' at versiontracker.com, and you'll get an 

extensive list of freeware/shareware/payware, if you don't ike the one I
