In the spirit of "permission-based commerce" which seems to be the direction
of the web, taking over control of an end user's browser without permission
is an incredible turn off -- the first time it happened to me, I thought
"why the @!#$ did they do this? Are they also inserting a VIRUS as well? Or
is this some kind of porn-site type web practice?"

The end user owns the end machine where your pages are being displayed.
Taking away their choice to say no is an insult.

Since my company often recommends design firms and sources of vendor-related
services we do not provide, I NEVER recommend companies that do this, and
always discourage use of services that do.
