making buttons stick

Hello

I am working on a flash(5) game where the user selects a piece of a world

map, then selects a piece of another map.  Each piece is a button.  On the

second selection, I want the piece to change to a different color.  I have

the color selected in the down field of each piece/button.  How do I make it

stick?

do I change to another frame?

is there anyway to do it in the button?
